On Wednesday, July 15, AIAI held the "P3s Work for Small Business" industry breakfast in Washington D.C. The breakfast provided AIAI members the opportunity to interact with local small businesses, medium-sized contractors, and minority and women-owned business enterprises. These efforts are part of a national initiative to increase awareness of the benefits of P3s.

In addition to AIAI Community Outreach Chair Vernon Marrow, Partner at ESmith Legacy, many notable AIAI members helped lead the discussions. They included Sallye Perrin, P.E., Senior Vice President of WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff and Chair of AIAI´s Education Committee; Joe Lewis, Principal, Business Transformation Group, Member, AIAI; Angela Berry Roberson, Ferrovial U.S. Construction Corp., Member, AIAI; and Joanne Brooks, Vice President/Counsel, The Surety and Fidelity Association of America; Member, AIAI.

AIAI and ACCNJ Are Pleased to Announce the Passage of P3-Enabling Legislation in Both Houses of the New Jersey Legislature

The bills, pending the approval of NJ Governor Chris Christie, will establish mechanisms to allow P3s for various building and highway infrastructure projects. AIAI has been actively engaged throughout the process of recommending and facilitating changes to the bill. AIAI Member - ACCNJ - has been the driver for initiating input from and support for AIAI´s analysis and recommended revisions throughout this process.

AIAI Chairman Bill Marino and Executive Director John Parkinson led a working group of AIAI members who outlined a number of recommendations to S-2489 as it made its way to the Assembly. ACCNJ President Jack Kocsis, who led the efforts in the chambers of Trenton leadership, noted that it was critical to have a working bill in-process which was fundamentally supported by Senate Leadership to help it move through the assembly. Kocsis and his team made possible the changes introduced by AIAI.

AIAI Applauds Texas for Establishing a P3 Center of Excellence

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed House Bill 2475 into law on June 19, 2015, establishing the Center for Alternative Finance and Procurement, a Texas P3 Center for Excellence. The law will go into effect September 1. Rodney L. Moss, Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director, Aon Risk Services and Chair of AIAI´s Law and Legislation Committee, was called upon to provide testimony to the Texas State Legislature. Moss was instrumental in the creation of the Center of Excellence and shared his broad perspective on why such a Center is an important consultative service to facilitate success in a state´s P3 program.

The Texas Center for Alternative Finance and Procurement will include a select group of alternative finance professionals with P3 experience, established for the purpose of assisting public sector entities in meeting public infrastructure needs through public-private partnerships.

A consortium of AIAI members joined the Texas Infrastructure Council (TIC) and other industry leaders at a stakeholders meeting in effort to put the Center into effect. Drawing upon the expertise from public and private sector leaders, the Center of Excellence will encompass best practices implemented around the country in order to provide a successful platform for the Center and subsequent program development.
